Obama Sides With Consumer Groups Pressing for Digital TV Delay


As the long-advertised date for the switch from analog to digital television broadcasting looms, some consumer groups are agitating for a postponement. President-elect Obama has expressed sympathy with their argument that shortcomings in the government's $40 subsidy program for digital converter boxes would create a burden for many rural, elderly and low-income consumers.

Hey, $40 bucks for a digital converter box? I need to buy beer!
